The Beginning - Diya Rajesh Saga

Prequel: https://dn-beautifullife.blogspot.com/2021/11/meet-cute.html As the next mornings light hit Diya's face, she woke up with an excitement she hadn't known in a long time. She took time today to get dressed, making sure her makeup/hair was perfect and her clothing and shoes matched, and had this enthusiasm to go to her her favorite spot by the lake. She wanted to look perfect. She was also equally skeptical, if the meeting with Rajesh was a one time thing, would he actually show up, did he think about her, was he as excited as she was. Curiosity was almost filling her to the brim ready to spill and make her do something silly. She stepped out into the chilly world, full of warmth in her heart and walked towards her destination, reaching there sooner than usual. Lo Behold, Rajesh was there waiting for her. It was a Friday and from far she could see that he was wearing a Teal Blue T-shirt, on a jeans making him look so Handsome. Her Heart Skipped a beat. Flashback : The nig...

Meet Cute

It was a chilly morning, Diya woke up to go for her morning walk by the lake, she geared up in her walking clothes got a bottle of water and left home. The lake was only 5 mins away from her home. It was just the view of the lake that made her want to get up and go for that walk every single day, and even on days she didn’t go for a walk she went and sat at her favorite bench to gaze at the lake and look at the sunrise.   This morning was no different, she always sat at her favorite bench after a walk to relax and enjoy that peaceful calmness. Little did she know that today would change her life forever. After her walk, she couldn’t wait for her Zen time at the bench. Today however when she approached the bench, it already had another person sitting on it, he was wearing a peach-colored T-shirt, and looked like he was having a Zen moment of his own and enjoying the view.   After careful consideration she sat beside him, and gave him a smile and said, “beautiful v...

Memories - I Miss You

My earliest memory are of my cousins, my brother and myself playing Bus Conductor (Ticket collector) and passengers where he would have this cardboard with newspaper pieces stapled to it and we would get on the bus and ask for tickets to different locations and he would tear them off, give them to us for some invisible money we give him. (BTW this game was in the balcony of our home in Mumbai) I miss you Anna (Anna was my way of calling him "Big Brother") As a child even though I am 7 years younger to him, i would keep even the littlest piece/quantity of food for him to share. My mom would do this prasad (Offering for god) every evening in this little cup Milk and sugar and would give it to me, i would always always keep even a little drop for him. I miss you Anna Just so you know we have fought a lot as well, i am my dads favorite and tears always did the trick where it would flow even before i have a slightest inclination that i was in Trouble. But for Anna since he...

City Girl - Am I??

Image
Am I a City Girl? I think I am... I am from this cosmopolitan city in India (Not sure if you have heard about this place) now called Mumbai, earlier it was Bombay. Chaat Seller, Mumbai I was always surrounded by People being very busy trying to get to places, or street vendors selling aromatic, yummy food, inexpensive food and all of them changing as per the weather, for e.g. in summer we would have lemonade, buttermilk, icicles (all Indian flavored) and during winters we would have coal fired corn, samosas , vada pav.... So..... why am i sharing all this, cause i am now away from home and recently in a place that makes me very happy as it is most close to how my hometown is. San Francisco, CA.....as I get off of the busy BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and totally not kidding when I say its packed during rush hours....(Reminds me of the Crowded Mumbai Trains) these high rises all office buildings and some apartment building as well. View of San Francisco, CA BART ...

Stay @ Home Mom or a Working Mom?

Here is a topic that I have been thinking about a lot, getting feedback from friends and family, going back and forth on pros and cons of this. Finally, today was the day I decided to share my thoughts and feelings on this. Whatever is your choice to be a stay at home mom or a working mom, I applaud you for your patience, your energy for making it work the best way you know how. Everyone decides on what works for their family, they have made their choice on how they want to do things, who are we to judge their choices, Maybe the working mom has a financial obligation, maybe the stay at home mom loves to stay at home and raise kids, maybe the working mom wants to have a career. To all the stay home moms please 1. Don't think its easy on the working moms, they miss out on all the precious moments 2. It is not easy putting 8 hours and then coming home to take care of the little one and the home 3. Its very tough to leave the little one in care of someone else who would see a...

Potatoes, Eggs or Coffee Beans, Which one are you?

Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn't know  how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed.  Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire.    Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot, and ground coffee beans in the third pot.  He then let them sit and boil, without saying a word to his daughter. The daughter, moaned and impatiently  waited, wondering what he was doing. After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes  out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup. Turning to her he asked. “Daughter, what do you see?” “Potatoes...

I recently read this article in a leading news paper that a hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujrat was going to do free deliveries, if the child born was a girl child, also that they would give additional money if it was a 2nd girl child. This was mainly to even the 890 - 1000 ratio between girl and boy child. My first reaction to this was, wow that's such a cool incentive to promote girl baby birth, but as the thought settled I was enraged, thinking... why are people so ignorant that they need to be lured in with money to deliver a baby girl. Here i purposefully add the word deliver, because i have no idea what these people would do, once they take the baby home. In a country where you pray to a woman like Durga Ma, Kali ma, Devi who is Shakti (the one who has the power to control the lord), why do we need such an incentive, it shows out backwardness and just displays the sad state of the country. You might say that there is so much good happening in the country other than this, i...

Friends Forever

Image
I am a person who loves to build friendships to last a lifetime, it takes a while with every person, as i take my own sweet time building trust and opening up. As i was thinking about my best friend today who is far away in India, and thanks to social media we are in touch every day, its interesting the way we began our friendship Lets call my partner in all Crimes ;) Vi. She moved to the apartment near me when we were in 2nd grade, and when she moved we already had an existing gang of kids in the area who played together, the leader was called Joy. Vi was very friendly and was easily accepted into the gang. Joy and Vi were playing a game called Jolly.... silly game now that i think about it, you are supposed to mark you hands with this little blob and then when you meet the person anytime you are playing this with, you need to show your hand, and if both have , its good, if not the one who doesn't have it should give the other one a candy. Vi reached a point in the game...

Dual Life Mentally

Image
Have you heard of that term? Maybe, maybe not. I can assure we all lead that kind of life. Who in today's world doesn't have a world within themselves . This is also something  that people do in reality, have two separate lives physically or some might relate to this as being a different person at work and a different person at home We all are always tied down by a bunch of things, societal pressure, family pressure, work stress. Constantly hustling to make things better and make others happy. In this run we sometimes forget we exist. Our first priority is to make ourselves happy, but then again, we are fundamentally taught to have a positive outlook, try to do whats right and not be selfish. No one realizes to make things better and make people happy we lose energy. Someone once told me that "Being Positive all the time takes  a lot of energy" and when i delved deep into its meaning i realized , "that's so true". Re Channeling you energy from nega...

When it Rains (Frozen Memories)

Image
My earliest memories are when I was little, not sure how little, I would come home from School (India) in the afternoon my mom would give me really hot food and once done, I would nap on the couch. The days when it would rain in Mumbai, oh my it was heaven. The couch in our home was placed very close to the window that had a netted cover.  I would feel the slight drizzle on my face while napping as if I am transported to a different world. Nap inside a comforter and very slight drizzle on my face wish there were ways to recreate those memories. That first rain shower, the fragrance of the wet mud, would waft and pull me to go out there and dance in the rain. The first rain and the shoe stores would get flooded with people buying rainy shoes, streets busy for umbrella and raincoat shopping. Oh and somehow all the work that is happening in the apartment buildings would stop and we could see all constructions come to a standstill. My best friend would just push and p...

Happy Place

Image
You might wonder what this is, maybe a place i have been to but that's not what this is, every time i want to escape from the chaos of life or all the hurdles life loves to throw my way, i escape to this place. Is this some place i travel to physically absolutely not, it's all in my mind.  I close my eyes, imagine myself there, feel the weather the calm quiet environment and within 5 minutes i have this energy and positiveness to tackle anything. How does this happen? totally clueless What does this place look like? something like this: To add a few more details, I come here and sit on a bench overlooking the water, and the time is twilight the sky has a hint of orange sometimes its blue and the water is calm. I hear the water the wind, the birds i shut everything else out. and the peace that fills my heart is indescribable. Can everyone do this ? Will it work for all. No Idea, but there is no harm in trying right? need not always be alone, you can ...

Are you being Judged?

Totally!! Every moment you come across someone you are judged, on what you may ask, on everything. Take it from the way you are dressed, the way you walk, talk, the accessories/gadgets you carry and believe me so many other things. And I am like , Who are you again, and why are you judging me? That question of mine is totally wrong i understand now. Because at the exact time they are judging us, we are judging them right back and you can say NO all you want, but subconsciously we are wired to judge. We would have to be saints who have abandoned their worldly materialistic love to be able to say that. Why do we judge others, I have often wondered and in my opinion its simply because we want to be aware, we want to know what is it that others are doing, saying the trend they are following so that we are up do date. We are creatures of a society want to belong in it and we don't want to be left behind. At the same time, we form opinion about people who don't fit the trend, w...

Grass is Greener on the Other Side

I for one always thought, wow someone else has all their ducks in a row, everything straightened in their life.... what problem could they possibly have? Lucky People. Not once did I think, that they would be thinking the same about my life. When that thought hit me, I was like they don't even know what I have to deal with. But as time passed by, and some of them became part of my life as my best friends, realization dawned on me that it was not all green on the other side. Would I like to be part of the greener grass? Of course but not on their side, gosh no, my problems and issues seems so much manageable that theirs. Then the age old adage "Be happy with what you have" kinda knocked on my brain and I was like oooooo that's what it meant, don't wish for more be happy with what you have, and comparing and dreaming for someone else life is just a mirage in the desert.  And this is not merely for personal problems, this could very well be part of our prof...
